Preventing Wood Splits With Nails Print E-mail

tip_nail_dullingHere's a quick tip for you.  When nailing a plank of wood near its end, avoid splitting it by dulling the nail head.  Turn the nail upside down and tap the point once or twice with your hammer.  Amazingly, this lessens your chance of splitting the wood.
