Simple Coping...With A Jigsaw? Print E-mail
Written by chuck (cranston, Rhode Island)
easycoper_090607.jpgWe encountered a demo for this neat little device called the Easycoper : a set of two plastic jigs that make coping a Crown Molding less tedious, using a jigsaw to make that tough 45 degree back cut instead of a Coping Saw.

That clean back cut to wedge moldings at corners typically ends up in a near miss, requiring a bit of filler in back of the molding to patch up the joint. The end of each jig frames the edge of the molding at a 45° angle, forcing a jig saw to follow the frame and make the appropriate back cut. Two jigs are included with the Easycoper, set for the left and right sides of the molding, and it can accommodate moldings up to 5.5 inches long. The Easycoper is a patented product, and available exclusively from the manufacturer.

If I had a hammer and some nails, I'd build me a bigger, better hammer.
